Hello Fellow Hardheimers!
I have started this web site because, for me at least, it would seem that for some odd and inexplainable reason - the
memories of my time while stationed in Hardheim Germany are some of the best I can remember of my Army days. Maybe it was
the isolation of the site, or maybe the lack of external "real Army" influence, or "something else" that
made the friends and memories of Hardheim Germany something that I wanted to share... and that I thought others might feel
as well.
I have set up this site in several sections - hopefully some will be of interest to you. The first thing I wanted to
do was to set up a membership page. It cost you nothing (except your past service) to be a member. In this page, you can provide
to me your contact information and some information about your time at Hardheim. I will also allow those who filled out the
form to have an email account on Hardheim-Hardtimes.com where you can send and receive mail as a little perk. How cool would
that be... your.name@Hardheim-Hardtimes.com!
Second, I wanted to create a page for each primary branch who may have
served in Hardheim. You'll notice a page for the Tower Rats, the Moon Shooters, the Scope Dopes, and so on. These are the
first places you should go to locate your old friends as I will post a VERY BRIEF bio (right now - just your name) there of
those who would not mind staying in contact. I've also set up command pages as well.
Next, I set up yearbook pages
whereby I am uploading your scanned photos. It is my desire to find an application whereby you can upload your own photos
and leave me out of the process (pure laziness on my part) - but I have to make it a secure enviroment.. When this application
becomes a reality, please use a little discretion here - over the years we have all grown up, matured a bit, met our wives
or husbands (who may not have been our girlfriends or boyfriends at the time), had children of our own, and maybe (just maybe)
that photo of your pal on dancing drunk on the tabletop at the Fashing party might not be funny (at least to them) anymore.
I absolutely reserve the right to refuse posting of photos without recourse. Hope you understand.
I will offer some
downloads, some Hardheim merchandise as I can lay hands on it (I travel to Germany every few years), and some BLOG pages.
Again, use discretion when posting to a web-log and keep all your secrets (including military ones) to yourself and off the
public web pages. Again, just so as not to be misunderstood - any profanity, illegal content, or postings in bad taste will
get pulled down by me.
Last, be patient! I will work on this web a bit more often that I did on version 1.0 - but
it is still "other duties as assigned" and will still take some time to get up to 100%. Anyone with web experience is welcomed
to help!
