| Bell, Michael | 36K | 1977-1979 | I was stationed at Hardheim from 77-79 (32months) lived some of the time in Kuhlsheim, 14 KM away.
The army rented some overflow space there in Kuhlsheim in 78 or 79. For a time some of the unit also stayed on the German
Army Kaserne across town. I saw the name “Shady Grady Connell” on one of the photos and this really took
me back. Before Top arrived we really got lax on PT etc. Once he hit town we use to run through town in formation.
I thought it was so cool we would come down the hill somewhat quietly, (except for the noise of 180 pairs of boots) and then
break into cadence at the edge of town. All the locals would come to their windows and see us pass by. |
