Ye Olde Kaserne. There are Russian refugees living here now. Odd, we spent a tour keeping the Russians out of Germany
and now they are sleeping in our racks. Mess Hall is now Day Care. Kitchen have some hot plates for meals.
All rooms coverted to family living quarters.

Here you can see the old primary or Alpha Tower with Alpha barn in the background. The hills (berms) have
been leveled around the site, so there are no more sections or containment areas. I went up the steps and looked out
the tower one last time.

This is the back of the Security Control Center - the breakout door leading to Charlie section. The doors and glass
have been removed (no doubt with some effort). This was the door that led out of the kitchen area, not the break room.

Wasn't there a movie called 39-stairs or something like that? Well the tower had 59 steps to get from
the ground to the top of the tower. I still remember what a treat it was to get Alpha Tower. You never had
to take that long trek out to Charlie Tower and could stay warm! Skate time!

This was the Control Point to enter into the Exclusion Area. There would have been a fence with triple-strand razor
wire and an electronic turnstyle. Moonshooters would surrender their photo ID's and pick up their identification and
rad-badges at the "bank" window -- others were allowed inside and could sign for the keys to the barns.

Alpha Barn. They actually use the site to now store building supplies (gravel, sand, bricks, etc...) although
there is one house in the old Charlie section. They hold outdoor concerts here as well. Don't konw if you can
see, but in the picture is a hand-drawn bottle of beer with the word "PROST" above it. Zum Vohl!

Behind the billets was a BBQ pit built by 1SG "Shady-Grady" Connell so that he could enjoy is PBR without the pressure
of drinking a Pils. Well, the local Russian families have taken to satellite television like I took to Jagerschnitzel.

This is the old Arms, Annumition, and Explosives room. This is where the MP's would keep their M-16's and their
allotted 90-rounds while on break. The COR (Commander of the Relief) would often double as the Armorer. Now the
room is used to store light fixtures it seems.
